Silke Sauer is Chief Brand Officer (CBO) at FAU and is responsible for the strategic management and development of the FAU brand. Her role includes the ongoing development and maintenance of the university’s identity, connecting values, culture, and storytelling, and ensuring a consistent presence across all channels, formats, and initiatives. Work on the brand core supports orientation, cohesion, and a coherent representation of the university both internally and externally.
As CBO, Silke Sauer liaises with the University Executive Board and exercises the powers delegated to her (pursuant to Section 30(5) of the Bavarian Hospital Act (BayHIG)) for the implementation of brand-related measures. In this capacity, she also serves as project lead for the FAU webrelaunch, positioning the brand for a digitally future-ready presence.
Curriculum vitae
In addition to an interdisciplinary diploma with a focus on Design, Marketing, and Branding at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and a Master’s degree in Marketing Management from Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Silke Sauer has over 20 years of experience as a branding, marketing, and communications strategist.
Already during her studies, she focused intensively on brand strategy and corporate design development, and after graduation she joined a Berlin-based brand agency as a Brand Consultant, specialising in the development of strong brands and consistent corporate identities for national clients. She later moved to one of Europe’s largest content marketing agencies, where she led projects in corporate communication and digital marketing as Senior Project Manager, serving national and international clients and providing strategic input in the science and B2B sectors. From 2010, she led a Munich full-service agency as Director of Client Services, focusing on branding and marketing. Since 2013, Silke Sauer has served as Head of Communications and Marketing at the School of Business, Economics and Society at FAU.
In November 2022, she was appointed Chief Brand Officer of FAU, responsible for the strategic management and development of the university’s brand.

Brand Office of FAU
The FAU Brand Office, as the central coordination unit, ensures that the university’s brand presence meets the highest standards. It consolidates branding and marketing activities, advises institutional units, provides templates, and supports the consistent implementation of corporate design, storytelling, image language, and logo usage. In doing so, it promotes the coherent application of brand guidelines and strengthens FAU’s identity.
