As of summer semester 2027, FAU will charge tuition fees for newly-enrolled students from non-EU and non-EEA states. In other words, students who are enrolling at FAU for the first time in summer semester and who are from countries that are not a member of the EU or EEA. This will not affect students who are already enrolled.
Our goal is to secure the high quality of teaching and learning at our University in the long term and to provide all students with the best possible conditions for studying successfully.
Tuition fees – an investment in academic success
Tuition fees will help maintain and further develop attractive study conditions and competitive infrastructure for studying and teaching at FAU. Our goal is to provide international students with the best possible prerequisites for academic success at FAU from the outset. Students who are required to pay tuition fees will be guaranteed a place in a German course free of charge and will also benefit from a comprehensive welcome package, ranging from welcome and onboarding programs organized by the Student Advice Center and study advisors at the faculties to counseling services.
Details will be announced during the FAU Dialog on July 7.
The decision to introduce tuition fees was taken after an intensive internal coordination process. The decision was taken jointly by the Executive Board, the Deans and the Senate.
The Executive Board would now like to extend an invitation to all members of FAU to attend the FAU Dialog on July 7 at 12:15, via Zoom, to learn about the reasons behind the decision, the key points and the planned schedule for the introduction of tuition fees. The Dialog will be recorded and will be available subsequently in the FAU video portal.
