Results of University election and election of doctoral candidates’ representatives
The results of the University election and the election of doctoral candidates’ representatives 2019 are now available. The results have been published on the German website.
A copy of the announcement of the election result was posted on the Elections Office notice board at Halbmondstraße 6 in Erlangen on 28 June 2019. Any objections must be filed by the end of business on 5 July 2019.
Results are only published on the internet for informational purposes.
Representatives are elected to the Senate, the five Faculty Councils, the School of Theology’s Appointments Council and the Students’ Representatives Governing Board of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in the university elections. While the student representatives are elected each year, representatives of the university lecturers, research staff and other staff are elected once every two years (next election: 2021).

Representatives for the following committees will be elected:
- Student Council (Studentischer Konvent)
- Faculty Council (Fakultätsrat)
- Student Committees (Fachschaftsvertretungen)
- School of Theology’s Appointments Council (Berufungsrat)

Nominations may be submitted from 25 April 2019 to 4pm on 8 May 2019. Nominations are to be submitted to the Elections Office or the Returning Officer using the nominations forms, which are separated according to commission and group. Any nominations submitted after the deadline will not be valid. Only candidates whose nominations have been accepted may be elected.
The electoral register shall be available for inspection from 23 to 27 May 2019, from 9 am to 4 pm.
The electoral register will be closed on 28 May 2019 at 9 am.
Votes may also be cast by postal vote. Applications for postal vote must be received by the Elections Office or the Returning Officer by the following deadlines:
- if the postal vote documents are to be sent by post: 11 June 2019, 4 pm at the latest
- if the postal vote documents are to be collected in person: 18 June 2019, 4 pm at the latest.
In order for postal votes to be counted, the Elections Office must receive the completed postal vote documents (voting letter with completed ballot papers) by 3 pm on the final date of the election (26 June 2019).
University elections: 25 and 26 June 2019, between 9 am and 3 pm.

The election for the doctoral candidates’ representatives will be held at the same time as the general university election. Unlike in the general university election, votes in the election for the doctoral candidates’ representatives may only be cast by postal vote.
You will receive your ballot paper by post. Therefore please check your contact address of contact given in “docDaten” until by 9 am on 17 May 2019, 9am.
Please note: without valid contact details in “docDaten” you will not receive your ballot paper won’t reach you! . Therefore, please login with your IdM username and password at docdaten.fau.de and check your contact address is up to date.
The voting letter with the completed ballot paper must be received by the Elections Office by 3 pm on 26 June 2019 at the latest.
According to Section 29a (2) GrO, one speaker and one deputy speaker will be elected from the doctoral candidates of each faculty. The persons from each faculty who are elected in this manner form the Doctoral Candidates’ Council (Konvent der Promovierenden), which elects one of its members who is both a doctoral candidate and a member of research staff (Section 17 (2)(1)(2) 2 of the Bavarian Higher Education Act (Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz, BayHSchG) as the chairperson of the Doctoral Candidates’ Council along with a deputy.
The term of office is one year, beginning on 1 October 2019 and ending on 30 September 2020.
The chairperson of the Doctoral Candidates’ Council belongs to the Senate as a non-voting member (Section 3 (2) HSchABwV, Section 7 (2)(2) GrO).
Nominations may be submitted between 25 April 2019 and 4 pm on 8 May 2019. Nominations must be submitted to the Elections Office or the Returning Officer using the appropriate form. Only candidates whose nomination has been accepted may be elected.[A4]
Doctoral candidates who are also a member of one of the other member groups given in Section 17 (2) BayHSchG may also take part in the general university election, independently of the election for the doctoral candidates’ representatives.
